AWESOME! No longer feel guilty for putting myself first.
Wow, this book came to me during a time when I was sick and tired of giving my all to everyone else (famiy, friends, and place of worship) except myself. I know I need to do much better at taking care of my health, weight, and finding more time for myself. “Priority One” was exactly the push I needed to start giving back to me. Simply, a gift or words of wisdom.
The first analogy that comes to mind after reading this…
The first analogy that comes to mind after reading this book is: When there is a drastic drop in pressure on an airline and the oxygen masks fall, the experts state to put your oxygen mask on FIRST and then put the mask on your child or anyone else who may need help. People often give and give until there is nothing left to sustain themselves. We have to remember that selfless martyrs at the end of the day are still dead. It is ok to say no so you can have time within a twenty-four hour period to practice self-care that will promote living a long and healthier life. Ms. Perara’s book laid out how people who constantly put themselves last in every part of their day can begin to make concrete steps to begin the journey of self-care. The book lays out why self-care is not selfish. Self-care is necessary to ensure that you are healthy enough to receive what you need so that you can balance out the type of care to the people in your life who matter most. A Priority One mindset is key to overall wellness.
What an amazing book, it is definitely a must have
I only have one word for Priority One and that’s WOW!! What an amazing book, it is definitely a must have. Mary Perara, really hit the nail on the head with this one. I absolutely loved it and could not put it down. Her style of writing in this book is like a big hug with a sometimes much needed tight squeeze. It made me take a long hard look at me and realize what I’m doing wrong and most importantly why I keep doing it. I highly recommend this book and will be purchasing several copies for my family and friends.
Ms Perara explains how easy it is to get lost in everyday life and…
Priority One is just the gentle kick in the rear to make you realize that it is okay to do something for you. Ms Perara explains how easy it is to get lost in everyday life and forget that just because it seems to be the easy choice doesn’t mean it is the best choice for you or anyone else in your circle. I love the feel of how she writes as if she is sitting with you over lunch or a cup of coffee. Believe me when I say this book will be gifted to a few people in my life just so they know they are important too.
I read this book as I was gearing up for…
I read this book as I was gearing up for the new year between the last few weeks of 2017 and the first few months of 2018. I needed a jump start to accomplishing my goals for the year. I am proud to share that I have been focusing mainly on myself in the area of health and I have lost 11lbs since January 2018. I contribute this to the principles outlined in the book around self-care. If you are not healthy, no one in your circle will be healthy. I intend to reread sections of the book as needed for other goals I have set and to keep me on track with this one.
